Families/children

In Västerbotten, there are lots of things to do for all the family. Skiing, adventure trails, theme parks and zoos are just a few examples of the activities we have here that made visits memorable for adults and children alike.

Tärnaby Hemavan is one of the most popular places in Sweden for downhill skiing. And in one regard, it’s perhaps the very best. Hemavan is usually referred to as the most family-friendly skiing facility in Sweden. A big Fun Park on the nursery slopes and lots of activities for children mean that the littlest skiers in the family always have a great time. There are lots of gentler slopes for adults too, ideal for when children want to test their abilities a little after spending some time on the nursery slopes.

Bodaborg has been enticing families for a number of years now to complete some exciting challenges inside the castle at Vitberget, a few kilometres from the centre of Skellefteå. By thinking together and working together, you can advance through the imaginatively devised adventure trail. Making progress at Bodaborg is like being inside a computer game – but for real.

Leos Lekland in Brännland, 20 km or so outside Umeå, has quickly become a favourite place for families with children. Here, children can run around a variety of tracks, enjoy slides, bounce on the bouncy castle, go cycling, or play innebandy, basketball and air hockey. The hours simply fly by – and the children get to exercise and have fun at the same time.

Lycksele Zoo is one of the biggest tourist attractions in northern Sweden, and a true classic – especially for families with children. In this beautiful, hilly place you can see seals, elks, reindeer, wolves, bears and other Nordic animals at close quarters. It’s off-peak season in winter, but during the “sports holiday” (sportlovet) and Easter holiday, its open for a few hours a day: Sportlovet 28/2-8/3, 12:00-15:00, and Easter holiday 10/4-19/4, 12:00-15:00.
